For these designs, my main goal was to intuitively depict the main concept of my game COCOBOY through a single piece, which could then be stitched together and reused for several different aspect ratios across Steam and other platforms. Fitting with the hybrid 2D/3D nature of the game, after thumbnails I started with a 3D blockout in Blender. At this stage I could very quickly tweak the composition, and move and rotate objects around until they were just right. From there, I brought it into Procreate to reference for the final piece. I wanted to make sure that the Steam release of COCOBOY had the best promotional artwork I could possibly make - I hope you enjoy it!
