cocoboy (Shroomjam 2024)

cocoboy is a game I made with another person in one week as part of Vinesauce's Shroomjam. I handled everything art-related and implemented every asset into the game. I set up animation systems, shaders, and a couple basic programming tasks as well. My teammate handled more advanced programming tasks (the cartridge interaction system) and made guitar music for the in-game radio. Given the deadline was so short, I had to crank out tasks quite quickly - I modeled the entire 3D environment from scratch within one day, and I designed the level on paper and pencil in one sitting. Overall, I'm incredibly proud of what we made with our combined skills.

The game is available to play on itch.io: https://knairda.itch.io/cocoboy

Cartridge interaction design. I made sure this was thoroughly planned out before handing it off to the lead programmer, so he wasn't making many guesses. We ended up going with option 2 for time, but the system was a challenge to implement regardless.

Level design sketch page 1. Crunched for time, I was able to squeeze this in during a class lecture the day before the jam's end. I later built the entire level in-engine on the last day.
